A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME – TRISH WYKMAN
For many years I admired lovely quilts other people had made… and wondered whether I could be that creative.
All that changed in 1996 when my family and I spent a year in the USA. My quiltmaking passion was ignited and I was hooked from the start! All that fabric and all that colour! I knew I’d found the creative outlet I’d been looking for and it continues to offer me joyous, lifelong learning and discovery today.
SHARING THE PASSION – TEACHING
Back in Australia, the learning continued (with WA textile artists Jan Mullen, Michele Eastwood and Trudy Pollard) and the teaching began… shortly after Quilting Matters emerged naturally.
I’m constantly expanding my own skills and gathering fresh, inspiring material to share. Teaching others and enabling them to create beautiful quilts gives me enormous satisfaction.
I use my class sample quilts to simply ‘sew the seed’ and demonstrate what is possible. I encourage students to discover their own creativity, to develop their own style and to make individual pieces as their confidence grows.
Each class is exciting for me… as I hope it is for you.
